NFL Media’s Albert Breer reported Wednesday that the NFL is exploring the possibility of having a team play two games in London next season on back-to-back weeks.
In the eight-year history of the International Series, teams have had a bye on their schedule in the week that follows their London sojourn. If a team were to play in London in back-to-back weeks, it’s likely it would be a “road” team in at least one game, so as not to lose two dates at their stateside home facility during the regular season.
The NFL continues to test the U.K. market. The league put three games on its schedule this season, including games in back-to-back weeks for the first time. Giving London “ownership” of a single team for consecutive weeks would serve as another appetizer in gauging the U.K. appetite for American football.
