We’re near the midpoint of the NFL regular season and most the regular season for many fantasy leagues is in the final stretch. I’ll be here all day to keep you up to date on the latest NFL news, big plays, scores and (knock on wood) injuries. Here we go!

(5:07PM) The top fantasy WRs for Week Eight, up to this point…

WR1- Amari Cooper, OAK- 35

WR2- JJ Nelson, ARZ- 28

WR3- Jamison Crowder, WAS- 26

WR4- Allen Hurns, JAX- 23

WR5- Tyreek Hill, KC- 22

(5:05PM) With no Ty Montgomery for Green Bay, the Packers have given two early carries each to rookie RB Don Jackson and former Chief Knile Davis. They’ve also used WR Davante Adams coming out of the backfield as a receiver.

(5:00PM) Your top fantasy RBs in a PPR scoring format…

RB1- Theo Riddick, DET- 27

RB2- Matt Forte, NYJ- 24

RB3- Jonathan Stewart, CAR- 23

RB4- DeMarco Murray, TEN- 20

RB5- Derrick Henry, TEN- 20

(4:58PM) Let’s check in on the top scorers at each postiion through most of Week Eight, beginning with the QBs. All fantasy points are rounded to nearest full point.

QB1- Derek Carr, OAK- 36

QB2- Tom Brady, NE- 30

QB3- Blake Bortles, JAX- 30

QB4- Kirk Cousins, WAS- 24

QB5- Carson Palmer, ARZ- 23

(4:55PM) With just two late games, let’s catch up on the recent touchdowns. In what is sure to be a high scoring affair, the Falcons are off to a 10-7 lead over Green Bay. Atlanta’s touchdown came on a QB Matt Ryan pass to WR Taylor Gabriel, while Packers QB Aaron Rodgers hit WR Jordy Nelson for a score. It will be interesting to see what the Packers do with WRs Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery both out for this game.

(4:51PM) Nearing the end of the overtime period, Raiders QB Derek Carr threw complete to WR Seth Roberts who broke a tackle and took it in for the game-winning score. Carr finished with 513 passing yards and four touchdowns against the Bucs.

(4:26PM) The Raiders and Bucs are facing off in overtime tied at 24, but Tampa has lost RB Jacquizz Rodgers with a foot injury and the team has ruled him out for the remainder of the game. That quick decision could mean bad things for Rodgers status going forward next week.

(4:24PM) The Broncos lost RB CJ Anderson last week to an injury, leaving RB Devontae Booker as the chalk play in all fantasy formats. The rookie has already left the game with a shoulder injury and is questionable to return. Backup RB Kapri Bibbs is expected to see some action in his place.

(4:21PM) After opening the game with a drive resulting in a field goal for Denver, the Chargers answered with a touchdown drive as QB Philip Rivers found TE Antonio Gates who stretched to cross the goal line for the score. Along with the Gates reception, Rivers also hit WR Travis Benjmain (18 yards) and RB Derek Watt (53 yards) for significant plays on the opening drive.

(4:!5PM) A couple of essentially meaningless scores. QB Josh McCown hit WR Andrew Hawkins for a touchdown and then WR Terrelle Pryor for the two-point conversion. The Browns are still down three with just 12 seconds remaining. In the Patriots blowout win, Bills rookie RB Jonathan Williams found the end zone and QB EJ Manuel hit TE Nick O’Leary for the two pointer. The Pats still lead by 16 with less than a minute left.

(4:12PM) With less than two minutes remaining, the Colts will go down to the Chiefs as they are currently losing 30-14. Colts QB Andrew Luck has nly 185 passing yards, but he’s given his fantasy numbers a boost with 60 rushing yards, good for the team lead.

(4:07PM) Cardinals WR JJ Nelson has come up big with teammate Michael Floyd sitting this one out. Nelson has eight catches for 79 yards and a pair of touchdowns. WR John Brown has the other touchdown for Arizona.

(4:04PM) QB Russell Wilson hit WR Jermaine Kearse in the back corner of the end zone, but he couldn’t get his feet down and the time ran out as Seattle lost to New Orleans. QB Drew Brees finished with just over 20 fantasy points and he spread the ball around as WR Brandin Cooks scored a touchdown and WRs Michael Thomas and Willie Snead both caught six passes.

(4:00PM) QB Derek Carr just found TE Mychal Rivera for a game-tying touchdown with under two minutes remaining. WR Amari Cooper has caught all ten of his targets for 149 yards and a touchdown.

(3:57PM) The Lions put up a fight late, but it wasn’t enough as the Texans are now in victory formation to close the game. TE Eric Ebron and RB Theo Riddick both made their returns to the Detroit lineup and combined for 15 receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown. The Texans spread things around as WR DeAndre Hopkins finished with a 4/44 line and RB Lamar Miller carried 17 times for 56 yards.

(3:48PM) Tampa Bay has taken the lead on a touchdown run from RB Jacquizz Rodgers, giving him 65 yards on the day. QB Jameis Winston hit WR Mike Evans for the two-point conversion to push the lead to seven over Oakland.

(3:40PM) Texans rookie WR Will Fuller has been forced to leave the game with a leg injury. More on the severity of the injury as it’s reported.

(3:37PM) We may be seeing the beginning of a breakout in Seattle. Rookie RB CJ Prosise has 81 yards on just six carries, showing why he was credited with big play ability coming out of college.

(3:35PM) The Jets have opened up an eight point lead over Cleveland after RB Matt Forte scored his second touchdown of the day. Forte has 92 total yards along with the pair of touchdowns.

(3:33PM) The revenge game is not going as TE Jimmy Graham might have hoped. Midway through the fourth quarter, Graham has just three receptions for 34 yards and his Seahawks trail by two points.

(3:31PM)A few scoring plays to catch up on…Colts QB Andrew Luck hit WR Donte Moncrief for a short touchdown, Bills QB Tyrod Taylor ran it in from 26 yards out and Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount answered that with a short score of his own.

(3:22PM) It has been a relatively quiet day for the Bucs, which is not what we expected facing the Raiders at home. QB Jameis Winston just threw his second touchdown of the day, this one going to TE Cameron Brate, who has a 3/22/1 line on the day. WR Mike Evans has three grabs for 45 yards and RB Jacquizz Rodgers has 60 rushing yards on 16 touches.

(3:20PM) The Saints have come all the way back and have taken the lead on a touchdown connection between QB Drew Brees and WR Brandin Cooks, who ha sjust three catches on the day for 24 yards. The Saints are stubbornly sticking with RB TIm Hightower, bup opted to pass near the goal line this time. The two-point conversion failed and New Orleans leads by five points.

(3:15PM) Jets RB Bilal Powell had a first half rushing score and now starter Matt Forte has matched him. Forte is up to 57 yards rushing along with the score, giving the Jets the lead over

(3:09PM) I mentioned the quiet day from Chiefs RB Spencer Ware and it won’t get any better. He’s been diagnosed with a concussion and will miss the remainder of the game. He’ll finish with 47 total yards and 6.9 fantasy points in PPR leagues. Kansas City QB Alex Smith is also out for the game with a concussion.

(3:07PM) Raiders WR Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper seemingly alternate putting up big games each week and it must be Cooper’s turn. He has six grabs for 92 yards and just caught the second touchdown thrown today by QB Derek Carr. Crabtree has two catches for 18 yards.

(3:02PM) The Saints are still keeping RB Mark Ingram on the bench despite the poor performance of veteran RB Tim Hightower, who has now failed on multiple goal line rushes. Ingram has just three carries for five yards on the day while Hightower is up to 46 yards on 19 totes.

(2:59PM) The Chiefs are going back to backup QB Nick Foles after starter Alex Smith took a hard hit that had Colts defenders motioning for Kansas City staffers. That’s never a good sign.

(2:56PM) The Jets are trying to get back in the game against Cleveland and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick connected with WR Quincy Enunwa for a 24-yard score. The lead is down to six as the Browns get the ball back in an attempt to win their first game of the year.

(2:53PM) You know QB Tom Brady and the Pats won’t take it easy on HC Rex Ryan and Buffalo. They’ve scored again thanks to a Brady to WR Julian Edelman connection and now lead 31-10. That was Brady’s fourth touchdown pass on the day.

(2:50PM) The Raiders are on the board in the second half. After a long pass interference drawn by WR Amari Cooper in the end zone, QB Derek Carr hit big man Donald Penn for the touchdown. Remarkably, it’s his fourth career receiving score.

(2:42PM) Facing a poor Lions pass defense, many fantasy owners were expecting a big day from the key members of the Texans passing offense. QB Brock Osweiler has been better than usual, throwing for 142 yards, one touchdown and one interception. WR DeAndre Hopkins has three catches for 36 yards and rookie WR Will Fuller has failed to catch any of his three targets.

(2:38PM) All 1:00 games are now at halftime, so let’s check the top fantasy scorers from each position (active games only)

QB:

1. Tom Brady, NE

2. Josh McCown, CLE

3. Drew Brees, NO

RB:

1. Mike Gillislee, BUF

2. Jonatahn Stewart, CAR

3. Frank Gore

WR:

1. Chris Hogan, NE

2. Terrelle Pryor, CLE

3. Andrew Hawkins, CLE

TE:

1. Travis Kelce, KC

2. CJ Fiedorowicz, HOU

3. Rob Gronkowski, NE

(2:36PM) In last week’s defensive battle between Seattle and Arizona that ended in a tie, we were reminded of the greatness of RB David Johnson, who put up big numbers once again. It’s not happening so far today. At halftime, Johnson has 23 total yards on only eight touches as Arizona trails 24-7 at the break.

(2:30PM) It was expected to be a banner day foe Kansas City RB Spencer Ware today as he faced the soft Colts defense and his backfield partner Jamaal Charles was sitting out. Instead, Ware has only 47 total yards on nine touches. The Chiefs also just scored again, as QB Alex Smith completed a touchdown pass to WR Jeremy Maclin in the back of the end zone. The Chiefs are up 17-7 over Indy.

(2:27PM) Another pair of scores as most games near the half. The Cardinals are finally on the board thanks to a QB Carson Palmer touchdown strike to a wide open WR JJ Nelson. The Cards are still getting hammered by Carolina 24-7. Browns RB Isaiah Crowell pushed the pile into the end zone for the Browns second touchdown of the day. They lead the Jets 17-7 and Crowell has six carries for only nine yards.

(2:19PM) QB Tom Brady threw a 53-yard score to WR Chris Hogan earlier today and he’s done it again, hitting TE Rob Gronkowski for 53 and a touchdown. The Patriots lead 21-10 over Buffalo. Brady has 181 and three scores already. Gronk now has two grabs for 51 yards on the day.

(2:16PM) The Colts have a pair of young WRs back on the field today. Phillip Dorsett has three catches for 22 yards and Donte Moncrief caught one pass for nine yards so far. Their return should only help QB Andrew Luck, who has been playing well in recent weeks.

(2:14PM) Chiefs QB Alex Smith is back in the game and his TE Travis Kelce continues to dominate the Colts. Kelce has six receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown on the day.

(2:12PM) RB Mike Gillislee continues to perform well in place of starter LeSean McCoy. Gillislee has eight carries for 53 yards and just scored a touchdown, cutting the Nee England lead to four points.

(2:10PM) Earlier in the New Orleans/Seattle game, Saints RB Mark Ingram lost a fumble. Since that time, he has yet to touch the ball again. Instead, veteran RB Tim Hightower and rookie RB Daniel Lasco are seeing the bulk of the action.

(2:07PM) I was unsure of what to expect from Browns WR Terrelle Pryor this week. Not only was he coming of last week’s poor performance due to an injury, but the return of QB Josh McCown may have had a negative impact on the breakout star. No worries needed though. Pryor leads the team with seven targets early, catching four of those for 82 yards and Cleveland leads the Jets 10-7.

(2:04PM) Here’s even more good injury related news…Hilton is back on the field for the Colts after leaving with a hamstring issue.

(2:02PM) Texans TE CJ Fiedorowicz caught a touchdown earlier, but was then forced to leave the game to be checked for a concussion. The good news is he checked out and has returned to the field.

(2:00PM) The Colts may be without WR TY Hilton, but QB Andrew Luck still threw for a touchdown, finding RB Frank Gore out of the backfield for a 18 yard score. Luck has 85 yards on the day, while Gore is up to 44 total yards against the Chiefs.

(1:52PM) QB Alex Smith is still on the bench with an injury and Nick Foles just hit TE Travis Kelce for a touchdown. Kelce already has five receptions for 75 yards. He is on pace for his best game of the season.

(1:49PM) Here come more touchdowns! RB Lamar Miller is into the paint. He was an iffy play today due to an injury, but rewarded fantasy players who took a chance. RB Christine Michael scored to give the Seahawks a 14-3 lead. RB Bilal Powell broke his two-week cold streak as he found the end zone and RB Jonathan Stewart scored to give the Panthers a commanding 21-0 lead.

(1:46PM) The news continues to roll in and it’s rather important. First, Colts WR TY Hilton has been sent to the locker room with a hamstring injury. His return is questionable. Nothing to do about that right now, but you might be able to adjust your lineups for this report. Packers WR/RB Ty Montgomery is reportedly out today. Get Montgomery out of your lineups!

(1:39PM) After taking a huge shot from a Bills defender, QB Tom Brady of the Pats found WR Chris Hogan for a 53-yard touchdown, giving New England a 14-3 lead. Also, in the Detroit/Houston game, the Texans have the lead thanks to a touchdown from QB Brock Osweiler to TE CJ Fiedorowicz

(1:36PM) Another important story today is the return of TE Jimmy Graham to New Orleans following the trade that sent him to Seattle nearly a year and a half ago. Graham has one catch early for 13 yards. WR Michael Thomas and TE Coby Fleener each have three grabs already for the Saints.

(1:33PM) The London game has wrapped up and there’s a lot of sister kissing across the pond as the Redskins and Bengals ended the game tied at 27, both failing to score a single point in the overtime period. Crowder, Green, Eifert, Reed, QB Andy Dalton and QB Kirk Cousins all ended with at least 20 fantasy points in PPR scoring.

(1:29PM) The Arizona Cardinals look like they are experiencing a bit of a hangover from their Week Seven overtime tie as they’ve fallen behind the Panthers by a score of 14-0. The ground game was rolling for the Panthers as both RB Jonathan Stewart and QB Cam Newton had big runs before Stewart took it in for the touchdown.

(1:25PM) The Patriots and QB Tom Brady have struck paydirt for the first time today. Brady found WR Danny Amendola for the touchdown to put the Pats in the lead over Buffalo. Brady has 54 yards along wth the score early in the game.

(1:15PM) Things are moving fast in Week Eight! Chiefs QB Alex Smith is out after a crushing hit and his backup Nick Foles is now in the game. For the Jets, veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick is being chcked for a possible concussion, forcing Bryce Petty into the game.

(1:12PM) The Bengals and Redskins continue their overtime battle locked at 27 points each. I mentioned the success of Crowder for Washington, but Bengals WR AJ Green has nine catches for 121 yards on 18 targets. That ties the high mark for any WR this season, tying Mike Evans (Week Two) and Antonio Brown (Week Three).

(1:09PM) For the Cardinals, QB Carson Palmer’s struggles continue as he lost a fumble that was picked up and run into the end zone by the Panthers defense. Carolina leads 7-0 early. WR Larry Fitzgerald saw a pair of targets on Arizona’s opening drive.

(1:07PM) QB Josh McCown is back for the Cleveland Browns and he’s led the team on an opening drive touchdown. McCown found TE Gary Barnidge and WR Terrelle Pryor for big pass plays before hitting WR Andrew Hawkins for the touchdown. Many expect Barnidge to be the key beneficiary of McCown’s return to the field, so he’s a player we’ll be tracking today as well.

(1:04PM) After mishandling the LeSean McCoy situation last week, the Bills are without their star today as they host the New England Patriots. McCoy’s backup is RB Mike Gillislee and he started with a bang. Gillislee hit the hole hard to gain 28 yards on the first touch of the game. On his next run, he got hit hard and was forced to leave the game. Gillislee has also been dealing with some nagging injuries, so hopefully he’ll be able to return. Reggie Bush took his spot in the lineup.

(12:59PM) As usual, many of the stories to closely follow today center around injuries. Texans RB Lamar Miller is active but it is unclear how much he’ll be able to play. He is very risky to use in fantasy lineups today. We could see Alfred Blue play a big role. It’s a similar story for Cardinals WR Michael Floyd, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. He too is active but will reportedly be limited. There are much better options to use over Floyd.

(12:54PM) With another London game today, your football Sunday started early. The Bengals and Redskins are locked in a competitive overtime battle. Redskins WR Jamison Crowder has been the star of the game with eight grabs for 106 yards and a score. Thats his second consecutive 100 yard game. Both TEs Jordan Reed and Tyler Eifert have been impressive as they are back at full strength after dealing with injuries.
