A few weeks after their season came to an end, the Ravens have received some bad news on one of their most promising defenders.
Linebacker Zach Orr is retiring because of a serious injury, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday, per sources. Rapoport added that the team couldn’t talk Orr out of it.
Orr was set to get paid this offseason as his rookie contract was wrapping up after three years in the league. Orr made the team as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
The 24-year-old Orr started 15 games in 2016, which included 132 tackles, five passes defenses, three interceptions and a forced fumble. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Orr was playing with a cracked bone in his shoulder late in the season. He was placed on injured reserve with what was called a neck injury in Week 17.
Around the NFL will have more on this story as it develops.
