Having a place in next month’s Champions League final on Tuesday night, Barcelona – powered by the forward talents of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar – are three games from a remarkable treble.

The Catalan club’s brilliant front-line have scored 113 goals between them this season and their link-up play has left Europe stunned on the way to the brink of the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey crowns.

Tuesday night in Munich brought two more goals for Neymar, another pair of assists for Suarez and the expected all-round mercurial brilliant of Messi.

But there was more than that, as all three showed their unselfish sides: Suarez with the two passes for the goals, Messi with the through-balls to open up the defence for both, and even Neymar for his late pass across goal when it maybe would have been easier to score and seal a hat-trick.

That came as a form of payback for Messi allowing Neymar to take a penalty when the Argentine was on a hat-trick against Cordoba earlier this month in another showing of selflessness.

Messi and Neymar are the first pair of team-mates to score nine or more goals each in one Champions League campaign, while Suarez – hampered by his early-season suspension – is not far behind on six.
