The hits keep coming for the Chargers.
The team announced Saturday that it has placed running back Dexter McCluster on reserve-non football injury (NFI-I) with a fractured forearm. McCluster will miss the remainder of the 2016 season.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that McCluster suffered the injury in an accident at his home.
McCluster joined San Diego only after the team lost scat back Danny Woodhead for the year to a ACL injury. He was averaging 20.2 yards on nine kickoff returns and 7.1 yards per punt return. McCluster will finish the season with seven catches for 36 yards; he had been used sparingly as a threat on offense.
McCluster now joins a list of Bolts who have suffered season-ending injuries in 2016: Woodhead (knee), Keenan Allen (knee), Manti Te’o (Achilles), Steve Johnson (knee), Jason Verrett (knee), Caraun Reid (knee), Jeff Cumberland (Achilles), Branden Oliver (knee).
