The Seahawks‘ “Legion of Boom” holds the unofficial title of the best secondary in football, but who owns the premier defensive front seven in the NFL?
Star defensive end Fletcher Cox believes it’s the Eagles.
“Being honest, I think we should be No. 1 in the league,” Cox said recently, per CSN Philly.
Cox singled out run-stuffer Cedric Thornton as the most unsung player from a group that includes pass-rushers Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham and the insider linebacker trio of Kiko Alonso, Mychal Kendricks and DeMeco Ryans.
Is Cox’s claim about Philadelphia’s defense legitimate?
On a recent edition of the Move The Sticks Podcast, NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah polled seven league sources to find out which team boasts the NFL’s strongest front seven.
The Bills garnered three votes while the Ravens, Panthers, Rams and Dolphins received one vote apiece. The Seahawks, Jets, Chiefs and Eagles earned honorable mention.
The Eagles finished second only to the Bills with 49 sacks last season. If they want to be viewed in the same light as Buffalo, though, they’ll have to improve their 15th rank in run defense.
