Welcome to the Dynasty First Down, where each week, I’ll focus on one player losing dynasty value. This is just a portion of a new dynasty series entitled Three & Out, which can be found each Monday. To find the full article, check out our Rotoworld Season Pass, which also includes projections, early-week rankings, WR & RB reports, exclusive columns and chats with our experts and much more for just $19.99.

Alshon Jeffery, WR CHI

The big news of the day comes from the Windy City as struggling Bears WR Alshon Jeffery has been suspended by the league four games for a violation of the substance abuse policy, specifically performance enhancing substance. (Insert joke here about lack of performance when using performance enhancer.)

Jeffery has basically been terrible all season, whether it was gunslinger Jay Cutler at QB or the more reliable Brian Hoyer under center. Jeffery’s top weekly finish is WR17 in Week Six, but that is his only appearance in the top 25 any week this season.

Although Jeffery has been unstartable in fantasy leagues this season, dynasty owners are hanging on tightly. He was still drafted as a top ten WR in our November mock drafts, going in the top 15 overall. Of course, today’s news could change that as not only will he miss the next four games, but he is now one step closer to a much more serious penalty if there were to be another violation.

Jeffery is due to be back in December in time for the Bears final three games of the season and what could be his final three games in Chicago. Jeffery is set to enter free agency and most assume he will bolt for a new team. Of course, this off the field issue could cloud that, not to mention the possibility of the Bears simply slapping the franchise tag on their best player.
