The Kansas City Chiefs are replacing beef on their defensive line.

Defensive tackle Bennie Logan is signing a one-year contract, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, according to a source involved in the move.

Signing the 315-pound tackle likely signals the end of Dontari Poe‘s run in K.C. Poe is taking a bevy of free-agent visits this week.

The swap might be a downgrade in name-quality — and perhaps stunt Andy Reid’s offense creativity — but shouldn’t be a big drop-off on the field in the Chiefs‘ scheme. It should also come at a much lower rate.

Logan is a stiff run defender and space eater in the middle. The No. 38-ranked free agent on Around The NFL’s Top 101 list, Logan will provide solid rotational play in the middle of Kansas City’s line.

The 27-year-old veteran garnered some interest on the open market, and was one player Philadelphia wanted to retain, but with the Eagles tight against the salary cap, they’ll watch the former third-round pick defect to Reid’s squad.
