The Carolina Panthers and defensive end Greg Hardy will have to wait a little longer to get a resolution to his legal problems.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that Hardy’s trial has been postponed, according to a source involved in the process. He will not play this season.

Hardy was arrested on charges of assault on a woman in May.

The Panthers announced in September that the defensive end had been placed on the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List, following the lead of the Minnesota Vikings‘ handling of the Adrian Peterson situation.

Hardy was playing under a one-year contract as the team’s franchise player and will be a free agent after the season.
